Default System Font Garmin Edge

Hi There,

I am building a complex DataField but I am having some troubles with default fonts.

I tried both FONT_* (FONT_NUMBER_* for numbers) and FONT_SYSTEM_* (FONT_SYSTEM_NUMBER_* for numbers) but the results is not the same as the font default DataFields are using.

See below an example. My DataField is the one named "CARDIO". Default are, for instance, "ZONE" and "CADENCE".

Numbers are almost the same but labels have completely different font... how can I replicate the same look & feel?

Also I don't understand why during the redraw process I got this strange overlap issue... any idea?

I do not use layouts - so, I have little knowing about…
Is it possible, that Heartrate and Hr-zone are written in onLayout() and then again using dc.drawText()?

The little difference in the the readings might come from the asynchronic calls…?

As far as I know you should always clear the canvas, in every call of onUpdate. Give it a try and let us know if it fixed the overlap.

For sure nothing is written in onLayout (unless your code does it). If you ALSO have layouts then it is drawn when you call DataField.onUpdate.

I think all of this has been addressed in the other thread, where it was established that OP used a transparent background colour before clearing. (Which means nothing was actually cleared.)

Yep, that's true and sorry for posting around.

This thread was to talk about system fonts and if there was a way to include those into custom DataField.

My bad that I also asked for redrawing issue. Sorry.

Maybe we should try to keep this happening less and not answer different questions and even less "trolling" topics with philosophical questions and long conversations with ourselves (especially if it's off topic).

What I'd rather recommend is to open a new thread and only include 1 short sentence in the old thread to inform people that "oh, BTW this reminded me ____, see: link to new thread"
