Hi,

Is it possible to receive an Input in DataField on Garmin watches ? I saw some old posts where apparently onTap() was working but I It doesn't seem to work in my FR965 Simulator. I wanted to build a datafield where with simple tap i can cycle through and select and item and then write that value to FIT file. But i'm stuck in receiving inputs in datafield.

You tried on a real 965 with the latest FW? I've heard it may work on some watches but never verified that.

You tried it in the sim with a touch edge device to check your logic?

I only tried my app on simulator. And yes on Touch edge the "onTap()" works in simulator

Try a sideload on the real device.

Yes, onTap() works for data fields on newer watches now, according to several reports. I can confirm that it works on a real fr955. (I assume that it works for all the other touchscreen watches with similar firmware, such as FR965, Fenix 7, etc, but I can't be sure.)

Unfortunately it doesn't work in the simulator, only on a real device, and there's no documentation about which devices actually support this now.

Yes, I believe onTap() has always worked for Edge in the simulator and on real devices. The docs have always mentioned that input is not supported for data fields on wearables (watches), although this is no longer true.

I opened a bug report for the lack of simulator support and documentation for onTap() in data fields on recent watches.

thanks, a lot. I tried side loading yesterday on my fr965 but I didn't found the datafiled. But that's something i will manage :) Thanks for confirming if it works of 955 is propably is on 965 as well.

Have you ever installed a DF from the app store and added it to an activity so you know where to look and how to do it? I've used sideloads on a number of devices for a very long time, including the 965 (data screens>data fields>Connect IQ Fields)

or if the device he built for doesn't match his real device then it can just not show up. Happened to me once

I've sideloaded apps built for the System 8 preview device without issue, as long as they work as far as different display resolution. Most of my apps figure that out at runtime..

Yes, i have some custom DF's on my watch. Yesterday I've just build for my FR965 ( unless i somehow kept the edge profile now you guys gave me a doubt). I put the PRG and XML files to GARMIN/APPS. after that When I couldn't find the DF on the watch i wanted to cleanup my watch so but only xml file was there PRG got deleted.
