How to draw line in DataField

Hi all,

I need to draw a simple vertical line in the middle of a DataField I am building.

How can I do that?
Is something I need to define in drawables.xml and/or layouts.xml files?
Or is something you have to do directly in Monkey C code with DC object?

I tried different solution I've found here on the Garmin Forum but nothing seems to work.

In that case you probably want to check if the user put it in a full screen layout. With the DF with breadcrumbs I posted, I only allow in in full screen or half screen fields and display an error to the user if it's another case.

No, I don't want full screen layout. I want my DF takes the entire width but height is limited to "one line" DF.

Use System.screenWitdh and compare it against dc.getWidth. On some devices there can be a scroll bar on one size that's not included in the dc, so you want to account for that.

I have another question: drawing icons is something similar to drawing a line? Can I do it with .svg file? should I use font? Any example? Thanks!

On watch faces, I tend to use a custom font for icons, and at times have done the same in other app types. For one thing it's easy to user different colors based on things like the background color. I tend to use png files for bitmaps and only use svg files for the icon when publishing complications as they are required there. I find png files easier to deal with on windows.

No way, I tried but it's not working...

I first created a fonts/fonts.xml file (is that correct?) and put it there the following XML:

<fonts xmlns:xsi="">www.w3.org/.../XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="">developer.garmin.com/.../resources.xsd">

</fonts>

But I receive the following error:

Unable to process 'font' resources: "...strange character here..." is not a valid key/value pair.

I am using a Mac and I only have .ttf and .svg file.

No, with the ttf file you need to use BMFont (maybe there is something else but it's what I use). There you set things like the height and the characters included, which result in a .fni (text) file as well as one or more png files.

See Hermo's blog post about custom fonts. can you run BMfont in a windows partition? If I recall, that's what Hermo actually did.
