Simulator FIT file fast forward

I've got fit file from a run that I'm trying to use to test a new data field. Everything is working as expected related to the data, but it takes a while (I'm not a fast runner) to let the data play through to get a couple miles of data built up. I've tried using the Simulation -> Activity Monitoring -> Fast Forward then putting in a number of minutes that I know my activity was within (12, 15, 20...) but nothing seems to move forward.

Am I missing something, or just trying to do something that's not built yet within the simulator?

Fit and Activity Monitor simulation have two different purpose.

Activity Monitor allows you do set things like steps per min, floors, intense minutes, as well ac activity monitor history. This allows you to test the 24/7 Activity Monitor things. Fast Forward there is for something like setting your steps per minute to 100, and then fast forwarding 20 minutes, increasing steps by 2000 very quickly.

When playing back a .fit, there is no fast forward, but there are things you can do for faster tests.

The simplest, is have a few different .fit files. Maybe one with a 10 minute activity, another with 30, etc. (the longest fit I use for testing is about 10 hours - I run that one over night! :) ) I also have some variations as to HRM, Tempe, etc.

As far has how it looks in the sim, if you have a device that does both smart and 1 second recording, record the .fit with 1 sec, as that will be providing data to the sim every second. With smart, it only has data every few seconds (up to something like 10 seconds apart) and can make things look very slow (the data doesn't change as quickly as it does on an actual device)

"Simulate Data" can also be interesting. It seems to run forever, and includes all the sensors.
