access to courses and navigation data

I would like to develop either an app or a data field that uses information based upon the user following/navigating a course (track) that was previously recorded or uploaded via Connect. I had a look at the Connect IQ API documentation and MC programmers guide but I cannot find any functions or classes that can give access to courses or navigation data. Am I missing something? Or is access to navigation data planned for a future release of the OS/API?

Our ActivityRecording Sessions have a GeometryIterator that can be used to iterate through the Locations in a recording session:

Probably not quite what you're after, but it's something that's available now. I'll check to see whether we plan to do more with tracks and routes in the future.

Thank you for your reply. Ultimately I would like to display the elevation profile of the course I'm navigating, including my position on the course, e.g., to show how many hills must still be climbed, or how much of the course is left.

The GeometryIterator only provides access to a Location object, which essentially contains position information. The elevation data is only available in the Position::Info object, which contains altitude, heading, speed, etc. We also do not currently have a way to access previously recorded FIT file data--the GeometryIterator only works on the current activity recording session started by Connect IQ. That's not to say that we'll never provide these capabilities, but I wanted to clarify what is available now.

For writing navigation apps, accessing stored courses and waypoints would be very useful.
