Instinct 3 Series - Vector fonts not supported?

Hi,

I just wanted to include the new Instinct 3 AMOLED in one of our apps. It crashes:

Error: Symbol Not Found

Error Details: Could not find symbol 'getVectorFont'

Can it be true, that these new devices don't support vector fonts? Even the FR165 does.

Yes, you want to "has" check getVectorFont, and if that's false or you try to use a font that's not available on the device and fall back to a standard font, you want to use drawText and not drawAngledText…

Font support is indeed an issue that needs to be considered. I like to use all kinds of weird fonts like https://freakyfont.io/ because they are particularly interesting. Pay more attention to the needs of young people, who like memes, fancy fonts, gen alpha languages, etc.

This depends on the HW on the device - in this case a GPU. You'll find the same thing on the viviactive 5.

This is what I do

if (Graphics has :getVectorFont) {

var tempFont = Graphics.getVectorFont({:face => "BionicSemiBold", :size => 156});

if (tempFont != null) {

_font = tempFont;

} else {

_font = Graphics.FONT_NUMBER_THAI_HOT;

}

} else {

_font = Graphics.FONT_NUMBER_THAI_HOT;

}
