DEXCOM G7

My doc gave me a free DEXCOM G7 continuous glucose monitor. I don't have diabetes, so I can't get an Rx for these. I'm just curious how my blood sugar reacts to ultra distance endurance activities, like a 240 mile 12 hour bike race. So I'd like to use it for 2 weeks or however long it lasts, when I have some big events on my calendar.

I've love to have my DEXCOM glucose readings embedded into my FIT file. I know there are some Garmin Fields that display the readings from the CGM patch. I think they have to grab the data from the smartphone app, not directly from the CGM patch.

Has anyone here developed a CIQ field that grabs CGM data? Any tips on how to do this? Or do you happen to know if an existing Garmin field that will write glucose data to the FIT file?

Thanks!

  • Search the store for DEXCOM

Garmin has a couple apps and there are others.

  • Thanks. I see there are fields that do this. I would like to connect to the device from my field so I can include data I want in my FIT files. So I'm looking for tips on how to connect to it. I don't know if it is ANT or BT, or if I need to connect to the phone app. If to the phone app, I'm not sure how... some functions talk to Garmin Connect Mobile (like Weather), but that is done for us, so I don't know how to connect to a 3rd party phone app to ask it for data.
