Question about making watch faces

If you are planning to take someone else's watch face, tweak small details like colors, and then add it to the ConnectIQ store, it is probably best to just wait. Garmin has indicated that they are planning to add the ability for users to set application properties. Once this functionality becomes available, it is simply a matter of getting the developer to make the detail into something that is controlled via a property.

So, instead of polluting the store with many variations of the same watch face, allow the developer to maintain their software. This also has the advantage that your version of the application doesn't become out-of-date as the developer adds new features and fixes bugs.

If you just want to update a watch face and side-load it onto your own device, then that is probably fine. If the source code you have includes a .project file, you should be able to click File > Import > General > File System (or File > Import > General > Existing Projects into Workspace if you want to import into your Eclipse workspace).

Thanks... I don't plan on uploading them to connect IQ. I just would like to tweak them for my personal use.

So it sounds like the developer would need to send me their files? Or can you download them from somewhere?

It's possible for a developer to make the source code available from a link in the store. Some apps have such a link (I know of one fenix watchface), but not many so far.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm not planning on making my source available. Anyone that want something changed can send me a private notification on the forum and I'll be happy to look into it.

Yeah. Same here. I'm happy to help people to code things on their own and to take feature requests, but for the time being I'm keeping all of my code to myself.
