App think it's updated but it hasn't

I recently updated my CIQ data field, and checked that it had been downloaded to my watch by using the Android GC app and viewing the version number. It said the latest number, but when I went to start a run, I could tell it was using the old version (due to some of the text and colours that I'd changed).
I removed and readded the field from the data screen, but still the old version. I then uninstalled it and reinstalled it, which worked, now the new version shows. I didn't try rebooting the watch, perhaps that would've also worked.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Makes it difficult to know what version is installed if the GC app lies.
  • On iOS, there is an "update available" button, but not on Android. On Android, it shows the latest version in the store, and not what's on your watch. I reported this to Garmin months ago, but it's still the same.

    There is a setting for "auto update apps" but that only applies to GE. So with Android, as you saw, you need to do an uninstall/reinstall. The other option is to plug into Garmin Express to get the update, which is what I do...
