We'll have lots of exciting details and surprises to share with you over the coming weeks and months.

  • (BTW, my real name is "Jim" and my last name starts with "M" if forum handles aren't on the name tags! :) )
    And you are still 58?
  • I was thinking 59, if my math is correct. ;)

You're right! It isn't my age - 58 is something that hasn't changed since the day I was born :)
  • Flight and hotel booked!

Enjoy Jim, with your knowledge of the connect iq platform you should give sessions rather than be just an attendee though ;)
  • Good idea. Jim, you can take over the session I've been assigned. ;)
  • That's quite alright Brandon! :) It will be good to meet the Garmin folks too!
  • Have you guys thought about a hash tag that will be used during the summit?

    Something like

    #ConnectIQ2017
    #GarminSummit2017
    #GarminDevSummit

I am not attending, but I will sure as hell be following the live tweets and IG and fb posts etc!

Lets garner some publicity with an easy to remember hash tag!
Attendees should please share everything and tag appropriately so that we won't feel left out :)
  • Good Idea Hermo! I know this developer from SA already asked if I'd IG pictures (I think his name is HermoT :) ), and with a tag, everything can be collected!

To make it short, maybe something like #CIQdc17?
  • To make it short, maybe something like #CIQdc17?

That is actually not so user friendly to normal people (non-developers).
Publicity should lure more people to the fun world of CIQ, and not knowing your abbreviations will cause people to scroll past tweets.

I see what you are saying.. I'm new to this whole hashtagging thing :)

I agree with Jim's original idea of something short, to allow for longer tweets. Something like #GarminConnectIQDevSummit2017 is descriptive and great for non-devs but eats up way too many characters. And while I'm not against encouraging non-developers to try their hand at coding (be it with ConnectIQ/MonkeyC or otherwise), I would contend that most non-devs aren't going to be interested in the programming stuff anyway. That said, sometimes cryptic hashtags serve as a way to pique people's curiosity... I can see the random person saying something like: "#CIQdev2017"?? I wonder what that is. I think I'll click and find out." -- I know I have stumbled on to various things that way, versus thinking I know what it is from the hashtag and ignoring it right away.

In the end, the important thing is to have a hashtag that is common so we can view all of the information in an easy way, rather than trying to search for common words or trying to ensure we follow all the right people. I know that MonkeyC creator Nick Kral already uses #ConnectIQ in his tweets so perhaps we simply stick with that, since really, anyone interested in Connect IQ will also be interested in what's coming out of the Summit.

    Cheers,
    Douglas
