This is for the Garmin Store operators / moderators to easily make a set of rules that will remove duplicate watch faces:
This is NOT about spammers, as there are plenty of discussions on here about that and it is a very subjective topic.
This is about improving the user experience and improving the Garmin Store.
This is what the store looks like today, 13 watch faces that if the developer had put a bit of effort into them they could (and should) be just 6 watch faces
The ones that are boxed are 100% identical, one is for 416x416 and the other is 454x454 - there is absolutely no reason to have 2 watch faces - and hence I think Garmin should have rejected the 2nd one that was uploaded.
The ones linked by lines are not 100% identical but have the same layout, with a bit of work the background images and the data options could all be in settings or a "theme".
And again I think Garmin should have rejected 4 of these when they were uploaded.
I am not having a go at these developers, I am asking Garmin to add some non subjective rules that could be clearly defined and upheld to not allow duplicates to be uploaded, which in turn will improve the store and the user experience.
I appreciate that for newbie developers there is an element of re-use, which creates some very similar watch faces (I was guilty of this, and it doesn't apply to the above examples), either there is an allowance for this (which I disagree with) or the newbie is forced to get better without clogging the store up - in hindsight I wish some of mine had been rejected.
Please don't hijack this topic about spammers or payment, as I think this could be a step in the right direction for the Store if something can be done.
EDIT: This scenario is using the website whilst logged in, and not using the ConnectIQ app or clicking through from Garmin Express as they only show me watch faces that my account can download.
