What does 'ranges' in compilation publishers do?

Hi, I cannot quite understand what the 'ranges' attribute do, this i from the developer docs:

It states: "The optional range element allows you to provide an ordered set of numeric values that define different ranges for your value."

It is an optional attribute, but I got curios and thought that someone here probably knows

The list of ranges for a complication is available to complication subscribers through the API, so I think the idea is that a subscriber could use this information to display a "progress bar" that fills up (like the steps bar in a native watchface). If more than 2 range values were specified, this could be used to implement something like an HR gauge or a segmented progress bar (as in the Crystal watchface.)

(Ofc it's entirely up to the subscriber to make the decision on how to interpret and display a complication that has ranges.)
