Automatic wifi data sync

Not possible.  You sync with your phone without burning battery using wifi on a somewhat regular basis.  You can always open GCM on your phone and sync whenever you want.

Are you sure that the wifi sync doesnt need a finished workout to work? I haven't tested it long enough to be 100% certain but from what I've seen the wifi sync does not happen just like that. Even if it occured once every 6-7 hours it would be enough.

I think he’s trying to say that:

- syncing via wi-fi burns battery, which is why it doesn’t happen regularly

- syncing via bluetooth / Connect app happens regularly (bc it doesn’t burn as much battery as wi-fi)

- you can always sync via Connect app on demand

Anyway, other posters in one of the device forums (Fenix 7, I think) said that automatic wi-fi upload actually happens on two occasions:

- immediately after an activity, as we all know. (I think the watch tries for a few minutes)

- about an hour after an activity. I was unaware of this and I haven’t seen it myself (on my FR955 or any earlier Forerunner), but I’ve never looked for it. (I assume that if you manage to sync — either automatically or manually — before the 1 hour timeout, it won’t try again)

I know this isn’t the answer you want to hear, but no, CIQ apps cannot force a wi-fi sync (or bluetooth sync), as jim_m_58 said.

Typically you’ll find that when Garmin puts certain obvious limits on native behavior (like “auto wi-fi sync is only for activities”), they don’t let CIQ apps bypass them. On the contrary, in most respects, CIQ apps can do a lot less than native software.
