Possibility to get Connect IQ apps without watch?

I am wondering if it is somehow possible to get a Connect IQ app/widget/watchface for a watch without having to connect/have the watch itself?

The reason I ask this is that I upgraded from a Forerunner 235 to a Forerunner 735XT and noticed the GPS Metrics Widget was only available for the 235. Now I was able to copy it manually, and it seems to work great on the 735XT as well so I was hoping it might be possible to somehow get entries for a watch even when you don't own them. All at your own risk of course, but I'm guessing many could work just fine but as long as the creators forget to 'tick' them as compatible you're out of luck :/
  • It is to help users to prevent consuming their time with problematic issues. Many apps have watch specific codes, graphics etc... For example some will display odd things on the screen while some even won't start.
There may be a link for such a thing but also developers may not want an app to run on a specific device. The best way is maybe to contact developer to say him update his app support with new devices.
  • If you want something on a watch that isn't listed as compatible in the store, what you really need to do is use "contact developer" or a support link for that thing in the store...

I can tell you without a doubt I have stuff in the store for the 735 that simply will not work if you copy them to a 235 (and to users they seem to be the same). And if you load a 235 version of that thing on a 735, it also won't be great (but will run)
  • Yeah, I understand and wasn't really expecting a solution (although hoping for one). Of course the 235 and 735xt are very similar watches while overall the changes are way bigger.

Ah well, guess I'll just have to grab all 235 apps I might want to (and expect to) run and just try to see if they actually do run on the 735xt or something like that before selling the 235 ;)

    Cheers for the feedback though
