Detailed statistics for app download and usage

Hi all,

Is it possible to see detailed statistics for app download and usage?

I would like to know countries and languages of the devices that have installed my app. All I can see at the app page are statistics of app version and device model, which are not updated for days. I say that because I know some people who are using the app, but their models don't even show up on the statistics.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it feels kind of frustrating.

No. Some devs do some way of statistics by themselves by sending some events to a webserver and do the analytics there

I agree with you. I've also noticed that up until relatively recently if you looked at your stats on the website (rather than Connect IQ app) you could see the actual number of downloads but now it's much more generic (eg 1k+). It would be nice for Garmin to let us know exactly how many users have downloaded our apps, if only to keep us motivated to dev more!

I'm still not sure how to interpret these numbers. For exemple, I have an app that shows 10+ downloads. If I check the devices percentages, the smallest percentage is of 0.42%. Worst case scenario, that would represent 1 device. If 1 device is 0.42%, the total would be around 238 downloads. Shouldn't it be at least 100+?

Afaik the main download count reflects installs (not updates), while the stats tab (including device percentages) counts installs and updates. (Despite the fact that the API request url for stats contains the text “fullInstalls”.)

EDIT: others have seen behavior which indicates what I said for the stats tab may be incorrect

The store used to show an exact number of downloads of my app (around 3500 few months ago) but now it only shows inaccurate steps like 1K+
I understand that Garmin don't want to show the exact downloads numbers to their users for commercial reasons but the developers should have access to these kind of stats about their own apps
Its frustrating

You can work it out from the device download percentage breakdown. Something you need to do in a spreadsheet, unless you are just after a ball park number.

How exactly you do that? Languages? Countries? I don't even know if my DF was downloaded 100000 or 999999 times.

Did you click on "Show All" at the bottom of the device %-age list and include the tail in calculations?

In my case(s) with tail included the total number of downloads always comes up to 10000 exactly. They appear to normalize the data to 10K before calculating the breakdown.

Can you enlighten me how do you estimate the total downloads from the percentages of the devices (+ I guess, from the displayed downloads "bulk" - 1k/10k/..)?
