I don't get the reason behind not supporting all devices - why is the system so limited?
As I implied above, I think they want to use this as a carrot to encourage users to buy new devices…
You forgot something: The developer experience in Garmin is so bad compared to other platforms, that insane developers would've left already even when it was free. Now you'll be paying $100, need to create…
As garmin begins to make money with user developed software I hope they also put more effort into giving the user a better and more stable and solid experience with those as it's now in their own interest…
"Enduro 3" is also interesting among the supported devices.
Anddddd it's gone (called it)
You forgot something: The developer experience in Garmin is so bad compared to other platforms, that insane developers would've left already even when it was free. Now you'll be paying $100, need to create a new app, that probably you won't be able to upload, because of the usual problems, and insane users won't pay for you for something that 10 other apps do better for free, especially that they won't be able to try your app, and when they do then some things won't even work, because of Garmin not fixing things (settings, or how the recorded fit data is displayed in Garmin Connect, etc)
As garmin begins to make money with user developed software I hope they also put more effort into giving the user a better and more stable and solid experience with those as it's now in their own interest - but we will see... (settings being one of the most obvious ones).
I think offering a native solution to earn money is a good thing as people have more trust into those compared to what developers have to use now, but with those limitations I'm currently out anyways.
For now it looks there's no change there. I wouldn't be surprised though if after a year they'll forbid the 3rd party monitization and all have to be via Garmin (which IMHO will only be possible if 1st they fix the trial apps and enable the Garmin monitization to be optionally in-app - meaning user can download the app and use it's free features, and optionally pay for the pro features)
The trialing support is not very well thought through.
There is a "free refunds within 2 days" clause, but it requires users setting up Garmin Pay before they can eval the app.
Perhaps it's the master plan - use this to try and nudge people towards Garmin Pay - but it will kill a lot of buys.
Say, I am browsing the store, I see something that I like and may consider paying for if it works well. Alas, I don't have Garmin Pay, so I just skip this thing over and move on. It's just not worth the hassle, leave along needing to remember to cancel the purchase within 2 days if I don't like the app. That's just ... not convenient.
Conversely, if there was a "try" button that required nothing but tapping on it - now that I would certainly use. Because why wouldn't I ? And if the app works out to be worthy of paying, then, once the trial is over, I'd go into the trouble of setting up Garmin Pay. At this point I will *want* to set it up as opposed to the current case when I am *forced* to do it.
I mean ... this is right there on the surface. One of the most basic user on-boarding cases.
Why is it not supported cleanly?
A smaller thing -
The list of countries on the Merchant Enrollment form is mixed up. The UK is in the middle, Spain is between Estonia and Finland, etc.
We believe this issue has been resolved, please try again.

The interesting thing is that according to DC Rainmaker the Garmin Pay for the CIQ store is not the same as Garmin Pay for contactless payments on your phone. Meaning that if your credit card / bank is unsupported for contactless payments, it's not necessarily unsupported for the CIQ store. IOW, we all know that credit card / bank support for contactless payments is pretty thin outside of the US, but apparently for CIQ purchases, almost any credit card will work? (I wouldn't know bc I haven't tried it.)
But most comments and blog posts seem to assume that both uses of Garmin Pay are the same. Even Garmin's "Garmin Pay" page starts out by talking about contactless payments from the wrist, then ends with a little blurb which says that you can now use "Garmin Pay" in the CIQ store.
Then again, people have commented that they had to set up garmin pay again for the store, even though they already had a card set up for contactless payments.
The messaging here could probably use some improvement.
If "Garmin Pay for CIQ" and "Garmin Pay for contactless payments" are actually two different things, then it seems that using the same name for both of them is a way to promote contactless payments when you buy stuff from the CIQ store? Or vice versa?
