Simulator zero distance covered

Hi,

Been trying to test some updates, and the Simulator, in what ever mode (either it generating data or loading a FIT file) is only generating an elaspedDistance output of zero.  Therefore I can't test.

Has anyone seen this?  Using SDK 7.2.1.

Thanks

Chris

  • Ok, in a weird way, I also can't get 7.1.1. to work.  Any ideas?

  • Ok, sort of solved it.  I can get a FIT file to work, if I press the 'play' Icon first, before the Start button.  Any other sequence generates a zero distance!

  • Ok, further update, this hasn't been reliable, as I am still getting it stuck at a distance, or no distance all.

  • I can get a FIT file to work, if I press the 'play' Icon first, before the Start button.  Any other sequence generates a zero distance!

Hmm I was actually gonna suggest trying different orders of pressing "Play (Data)" and "Timer Start", as Dave Brillhart posted a bug years ago that distance doesn't increment for a certain combo.

But I tried both orders and it worked for me, so I didn't bother.

Maybe there's some kind of weird timing issue here (e.g related to the speed of your computer.) I've def seen things in the sim that are affected by CPU speed. Like you can write certain code (that wouldn't work on a real device) which updates the simulated display faster than would be possible on a real device (only limited by the speed of your computer.)

Not that this helps, but you should probably file a bug report and attach a video.

Maybe if you have a different computer, you could try that and see if you have consistent results. Or you could try running CIQ in a VM to slow things down haha idk.

  • I don't see that. If you recorded the fit with "smart recording" there are multi-second gaps in the data.

Ok, I think this may be the issue.  I found a User generated FIT, which they asked me to check, and this works fine.  Therefore I am thinking my devices (Fenix 5X/7X) are generating FIT files, which are not compatible.
