Default Garmin App Built for Edge Explore Does Not Show Up in ConnectIQ Apps After Side Loading

I have created the Default MonkeyC Project through VSCode, set the minimum supported API to "3.0.0 - System 3", selected "Edge Explore" as the target device, and built the PRG file. Then I have side-loaded the PRG file to a USB-connected Edge Explorer running Software Version 5.4.0. The app is in the "Apps" folder (Garmin -> Garmin -> Apps) but when I tap the IQ button I get the message "No Connect IQ apps available".

Cycling the power does not change the result. There are no logs. After unplugging the device from the USB cable and plugging it back in, the PRG file is still in the "Apps" folder. But the app never appears in the ConnectIQ apps list.

What type of app? Data fields/device-apps/super apps are accessed in different ways.

For example, with a data field, you need to add it to the data screen of an activity.

Jim: Thanks for the reply. Found the problem - related to your answer: I was allegedly building a "Watch App" but when I looked at the manifest it was set to build a "Data Field". Fixed that, and now the app appears.

Ok, if the code is for a data field, you can't just change the manifest to be a device-app, as how they work is very different. No "compute" in a device app, and onUpdate isn't called automatically. And a bunch of other things...

No problem - just created a completely new project so didn't run into that problem. Thanks for the (future) advice! I'm at the beginning of creating a proof-of-concept, so there's no issue with erasing the old and starting new.
