Weather Delays

I don't know what happened... but I just got an EDGE 1050, and recompiled my data fields with 1050 support and using the latest SDK.

In the past, my Weather feature quickly resolved weather data from the closest weather station. Within a minute or two of starting the activity. Now it seems to take 15+ minutes. It eventually resolves, but takes a LONG time.

Anyone else seeing this?

Toybox.Weather? I've seen it take an hour or more for it to update on a watch while connected to a phone the whole time.

Yes. But I've been using this for 1.5 years now and at least on the EDGE platform, it usually takes a minute or two... and rarely takes up to maybe 10 mins. Now I it is always taking MUCH longer. And a user is now also reporting this new behavior. I'll start to take note of the actual resolution times. But something changed drastically over the last couple weeks.

If you look at the data, is it observationTime that's 10 minutes old, or does it take 10 minutes to see anything, even if observationTime is much older than that? With the hour or more, I'm basing that on observationTime.

longer to see anything... I'll add some diag logic to my field to get more info on what is happening

My observations with new Edge 1050 and Toybox.Weather from nearest weather station:

As long the Edge‘s Weather Widget does not show weather data yet - no weather via Toybox (what to expect).
As soon the Edge‘s Weather Widget shows weather data, this data is available via Toybox.Weather (temperature, wind …).

My Edge 1050 delivers weather data nearly immediately after booting.

Edit in addition: Garmin Connect on my mobile connects to the Edge, and on your phone you have to allow GC to use location - always!
