Developer postal code is exposed in Connect IQ mobile app

I just noticed that the postal code I used for my "Verified Developer" process is exposed on the Connect IQ mobile app; as previously mentioned, in Canada, a complete postal code narrows a location down to one side of a city street block, which could be as few as eight houses. This is fine for a business but for a personal developer, it's not something I'm fully comfortable with.

This happens on both the Android and iOS versions of the app.

  • Garmin don't seem to understand what the EU wants. They seem to get freaked out because they almost forgot the date. I'm not sure if they consulted with their layers or not.

The tragicomedy of what you're reporting (was already noticed by others, and Garmin was open about it here in the forum, but it's not clear from the form you have to fill in) is that I wouldn't be surprised if what they do is not completely ok in EU.

  • But Garmin claimed postal code / zip code would only be exposed for businesses, not individual devs, and certain forum regulars talked down to everyone who doubted this, telling us they trust Garmin (bc they’re on a first name basis with the CIQ team and that all of this was clarified). How can this be!!!
