How to know if watch is in an activity, when in the Background?

Hello,

Somehow, I need to check if the watch/user is running an activity on the watch, while being in the Background service. I'm sending alerts with the background service to the user, but I want to pause them during activities, as that is annoying and unneeded.

Is there a way to check this? I did not yet find a way to do this.

I've not tried this, but maybe look for things changing in Activity.Info, but that would mean the background service would need to run long enough that whatever you are looking at changes during an activity (elapsedTime/distance/speed/location/etc) which may be a bit hard as you can't use something like a timer in the background and you can't do things that would trip the watchdog..

I use this in "general", you'll need to test it in background:

function isInActivity() as Boolean {
    var info = Activity.getActivityInfo();
    return info != null && (info as Activity.Info).startTime != null;
}

If you need to differentiate between whether an activity is "active" or it's paused (save for later), then you'll need to look further into other values
