Facemaker v1.3.121

HI!

Thanks to the help from the most knowledgeable users here, Facemaker now supports Garmin!

www.youtube.com/watch

But only devices with AMOLED with API 5.0.0 are supported.
I think this is a revolution for Garmin and it would really help Garmin sales in Europe.

You can now really create a Garmin watchface in minutes, using nothing but your imagination. Just watch my videos.
I'm, also developing the Facemaker watchface store which will feature wearOS, but I'd really love to include Garmin.

I also have my own payment system ready to go, for all the designers out there, using Stripe.

My question is, (considering no one from Garmin admin reads this), can I include Garmin on my market?

Will I be sued?

Respectfuly, I know most of the designers here can barely create a complex watchface or just take too long to create it.
But now, you can create it in a couple of hours!
If you only take a couple of hours to create a watch face, would it be useful for you? Or am I wasting my time with Garmin?

I have been discouraged by a friend, regarding the inclusion of Garmin on my store, but I believe that this could be a very lucrative endeavour, for the both of us, Garmin and me.
A true market, where everyone could participate, not only programmers like me, but also designers... more offer and more sales.
I have thousands of users ready to go, just give me a green light.
If an executive from Garmin sees this, please contact me. I'm really positive about this.
My email is [email protected].

All the other users, let me know what you think!

All the best,

Nuno

  • So, stop pointing until you have a device in hand.  Until then, your tool is meaningless.

  • You have a point, I admit.
But still, I councur. Is the Garmin simulator useless?

I beg that someone at Garmin replies here. I know they won't, but we'll soon know if the FM watchfaces are valid, won't we?
So, keep posting, I thank you.

A lot of people will see this thanks to you. That's invaluable to me.

  • Also, please visit us at Discord, here's an invitation: https://discord.gg/3uZaDz6FEP

Anyone can use this invitation and see with their own eyes what FM can do.

With all due respect, I believe the FM designers can do better, much better than what Garmin users have right now.
Just take a look at the #share-your-watchface or #show-your-watchface channels.

Of course, you'll say "that's nothing special". Those are the hobbyists posting, not the professionals.

  • The sim isn't useless, but you must learn and understand it's limitation.

I'll point out again, how and when a watch face switches between low and high power.

How do you see what happens in the sim when a notification is seen on a real watch? (and yes, that matters in cases!)

  • I repeat, I WILL buy a real device.

I don't have a real watch either. I kind of expected that when I show more interest in garmin, make the graphics a little more interesting, a little different dials, create something useful for other developers, join the discussion, that garmin will notice it and there is also a narrow group of "chosen" developers , to whom they have a different attitude and support them also by sending them free watches for development purposes. I don't want to say anything by that and it doesn't even matter, but nothing like that happened. but I've been here for a short time (probably less than a year?) but I have information from other developers who have been at garmin much longer that nothing like this even exists. it seems that garmin doesn't really care if the developer can bring them a little higher added value, more quality (of course it doesn't have to and maybe it's not even me). there is, for example, a discord channel where, as far as I know, there is not a single person from garmin. I know that it is not their duty, but I also really miss the closer contact between the developer and people directly from Garmin, as is the case on other platforms, something where the developer feels that he is creating something valuable for the company and has a certain amount for it benefits.

  • Look, the Facemaker app is a complex project, I'm not a buffoon.
Facemaker supports Huawei, Amazfit, Android, some OEM watches, Garmin and soon wearOS.
No one has accomplished this as far as I know, but yet, I keep being questioned by everyone.

Let's leave it to the Garmin team to evaluate the FM watchfaces, please.
I'm not saying here that the FM watchfaces are perfect in every way, but I'll subject them to the Garmin team evaluation.
If they find them good enough to be on the Garmin store, good for my designers and good for the Garmin customers.
I have followed all the guidelines and advices, but I'm not perfect. If something needs to be dealt with, I will deal with it, immediately.

Don't want it, don't buy it.

  • At the in-person CIQ developer summits (it's been a few years with covid), everyone came home with a new and shiny Garmin.

Also understand the Garmin CIQ group isn't that large - support and devs would all fit in one room. In fact one year we all had lunch together in a conference room!

  • Yes, that's also the definition of a Huawei team.
Having to evauate 600 watchfaces a day is not easy. I know that.

But my users are a handful for now.

It won't be dramatic or spam. It'll be a handful initally and we want to make it as easy as can be.
The source code will be provided, I just hope there won't be a leakage and my endpoint won't be exposed for hackers.

  • it sounds like a very small and closed group. it would be really awesome if there was a small team of people at garmin who could and would take care of developers who they think are as clever or clever more than others. I repeat, it doesn't have to be me, but just knowing that something like this exists would give me a lot of inspiration and I would try to improve to get there and be useful for garmin, doing something more for the satisfaction of their customers.

  • The source code won't help someone who's not a coder, but a designer. On the other hand they could publish it in GitHub.

More than being afraid from the spam watch faces I am afraid of the new wave of posts here from people who don't know how to write code...
