Settings file for custom not published garmin watchface app in .prg format.

I want to create a Garmin watchface app with the settings, but I do not want to publish it to Garmin Store. I just want to use it for myself. I want to have some settings in this app. As I understand, I cannot change settings via mobile app for this app because it is not published. I read somewhere that theoretically it is possible to create settings file manually and put it here \GARMIN\APPS\SETTINGS and it will work.

Can someone help me to create such a file? What is the format? Is it possible at all?

The easiest thing is to put it in the store as a beta app. You can see and install it, but no one else can and you can use app settings for it

Thank you. Can my friend use it as well? So, it is for 2 people. Or is it only me with my garmin account connected to the mobile phone and it should be the account of the owner of the app?

Only you. Earlier I posted in another thread about using a custom set file with a sideload which may be better in your case.

if it's a watchface that you want to "promote" by sending the prg file to friends who sideload, then maybe one user friendly way is to provide on-device settings.

If anyone needs more details.
The file with the settings is located here
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\com.garmin.connectiq\GARMIN\APPS\SETTINGS\<MY_CONNECTIQ_GARMIN_APP>.SET

The format of the file is binary like this, so probably to edit it, a hex-editor will be needed.

It should go to the same folder GARMIN\APPS\SETTINGS in the watch.
