VectorFonts -- what's available?

I'm trying to use Graphics.getVectorFont to fetch a VectorFont, but I couldn't figure out what font faces are available. Does anyone know how to find them?

I was referencing https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/reference-guides/devices-reference/, but "Noto Sans" doesn't seem like a valid font face.

  • except if what you see and interpret as "they know" is that they don't know, maybe they're not even aware of

I already reported it in the Forum About The Forum, idk what else you want me to do. Should I fly down to Olathe, Kansas and deliver the news to their CEO personally? Think Garmin gives a flying f about the forum user experience?

I'm also not sure what the distinction is between "they don't know" and "they're not even aware of" is supposed to be. Aren't those the same thing?

I'm getting tired of being Garmin's unpaid QA tbh. Other bugs which affect far more people (i.e. regular users, not just forum nerds) I've reported in multiple channels to no avail.

And again, I don't care if it's done on purpose or if it's just an oversight or a bug. Clearly it's not going to be fixed, and even if it is fixed eventually, that doesn't take away the annoyance that it's already caused me countless times.

Again it's funny that you should go down this route when you're the guy who constantly reposts the same complaints about well-known forum issues as if we haven't been whining about them for more than a year now.  "Failed to post images AGAIN RageRageRage but here's this amazing workaround I just discovered Grin [it was first posted in 2024]"

If they know, they probably don't care.

If they care, they either can't or won't fix the problems.

If they fix the problems tomorrow, that won't take away from the immense frustration that we've all experienced in using the forums for some time now.

    maybe it's a security bug.

I don't see how it's a security bug when it in no way reduces security. It might be a bug or an oversight, but it's not a security vulnerability as you seem to be implying. It's just extremely annoying for someone like me who doesn't like to stay logged in all the time (I'm sure I'm in the minority that way, although I've seen some normie users who are under the mistaken impression that a login is always required for the forum and who expressed that they would rather not come to the forums just to view a firmware changelog for that very reason).

Speaking of login bugs, there's this:

    1) Ensure you are logged out of all garmin sites (start a new private browsing session if necessary)

    2) Log into connect.garmin.com as User A

    3) Click on profile pic > Account Settings > Account Information > Change Password. This will open a page on garmin.com (not connect.garmin.com) where you are logged in User A and given the ability to edit your account details (including updating your password). You can close this tab but it doesn't really matter

    4) Go back to the connect.garmin.com tab, log out, and log in as User B

    5) Click on profile pic > Account Settings > Account Information > Change Password. This opens the account details page for user A.

Note that at no point did you have to explicitly log into garmin.com (as opposed to connect.garmin.com) - you were initially implicitly logged into garmin.com when you click on the Account Information > Change Password link in connect.garmin.com (which opened a page on garmin.com). But the 2nd time you do that (with a different user), you're still logged into garmin.com as the first user.

This has been reported by someone else in another subforum and I verified it and recreated the problem with the steps as mentioned above, but I'm sure Garmin will never fix it bc they don't care.

It's just another example of issues with Garmin logins.

    Clearly:

    - they don't test edge cases / interaction with multiple sites under the Garmin umbrella

    - they don't test with multiple users

  • except if what you see and interpret as "they know" is that they don't know, maybe they're not even aware of, and maybe it's a security bug.

I just realized that maybe I interpreted this wrong in my previous response.

I thought you meant "they know" as in "they know about this problem", but it occurred to me that you probably meant "they know" as in "they know they are reusing login details" and you are claiming that it's a security bug that they unknowingly reuse login details.

Yes, I think they know they are reusing login details, there's clearly separate - yet related - login systems for various Garmin sites (like garmin.com, connect.garmin.com and the forums), and I think they have to do work to get those auth systems to work together. I don't think it happens by accident.

Either way I don't really care, it's a bad user experience, and it's probably not gonna improve.

  • I don't see how it's a security bug

a few lines below you just proved it how it is a security bug:

you're still logged into garmin.com as the first user
  • I think they need to check the PATH parameter of the cookie they use for the login.
