How do I lock the watch when I take it off , so whatsapp and other apps don't show the contents on the screen?

This is a great idea - it’s the “little” things like this which really make a difference in user experience (and, in this case, privacy).

Unfortunately, this isn’t the correct forum - this is a forum for 3rd party Connect IQ apps. Sadly there isn’t really a forum for generic device feature requests, although I personally think it’s good to post ideas like this so at least there’s community visibility. You could always try posting in the forum for your specific device under either Outdoor Recreation or Sports & Fitness.

(I hate this form bc there’s no community visibility/discussion/voting or feedback from Garmin, unlike, say, the Spotify community Ideas page, but it’s the “official” way to suggest ideas.)

Good point. I assume they are much stricter with Garmin Pay to either comply with legal regulations and/or to avoid lawsuits.

But then again, imagine a bad guy grabbing someone's Garmin so they can snoop the notifications to snag a temporary one-time verification code for an important account....
