The Epix Gen2 watchface flickers in AOD mode on a Connect IQ watchface.

The watchface is in low power AOD mode during the video, and the watchface is only allowed to update once per minute, but the display flickers every second.
This seems to be a recurrent problem reported by many people regarding Connect IQ watchfaces, (not stock watchface provided by Garmin).
Has anyone else experienced these problems. What is the cause or resolution?
There are other reports on the forums over a year old, but neither have a satisfactory explanation or resolution.
