Uploading new WF version resets settings.

I have a watch face that I uploaded to the store and installed on my watch. I changed some of the color settings via the Android app and it showed correctly on the watch. Then I made some code updates, uploaded a new version and updated it, also via the Android app. The colors are now the original ones, so it seems like the settings have reverted to the default ones.

Is this normal? I would have thought that the settings changes should be persisted, otherwise users would lose their customization? Could it be due to the app being marked as a beta version? I'll test again when I've made more code changes to see if it happens again. Thanks.

You want to be very careful if you add or remove something in app settings xml. With the sim, in the debug console, you'll usually see a message when this causes the settings to get reset.

Search the discussion and bug report forms and you'll see this has come up before. It's often tied to changing settings in the XML for for the new version. What's in the .set file has changed, and they get reset.

Did you do something like add or remove a setting in the new version?

I didn't find an answer via Google, so I posted :) I'll have to check my Git history to see exactly what I changed and will test again with a new version. I guess it's a tricky thing to merge old and new settings, but it would be nicer for users so they don't lose customization.

Saw this now in the console. Must have missed it with my other round of changes. "WARNING - persisted values reset due to settings redefinition."

Any idea of how Storage behaves? E.g. used for on-device settings. Does that also get reset? If I had to guess I'd say that it would stay the same?

Somethingn hasn to change because I haven't seen settings resetting for many months!

Sim usually resets settings if you changed device because there was problem with loading correct settings (each device can have different).
