Try catch compiler issue

Hi. im trying to use this part of code given in cor topics.

function onPress(clickEvent as ClickEvent) as Boolean {
    if ((mComplicationId != null) &&
         isClickInside(clickEvent, mBoundingBox)) {

        // launch the app that published the
        // complication
        try {
            Complications.exitTo(mComplicationId);
            return true;
        } catch (e as AppNotInstalledException) {
            // fall through
        }
    }

    return false;
}

However it seems the Try{} element thrown the following error

ERROR: epix2pro42mm: C:\Users\Bastos\eclipse-workspace\FusionV4\Fusion_V4\source\Fusion_V4View.mc:52,20: no viable alternative at input 'try{Complications.exitTo(fields[i].fieldData.complicationId);returntrue;}

any idea? Maybe missed some import?

what's the type of mComplicationId? It should be Complications.Id

The complication.Id that I m using is ok.

All works fine without try catch blocs.

But if i add them, I got the compilation issue I mentioned...

It looks like using "try" is not allowed.

according to the documentation exitTo throws InvalidValueException and not AppNotInstalledException

I agree. But the compilation issue is about using "try" Word.

I also tried to use it only with some System Print function. And I also have issue about using try word.

I use try/catch for this all the time, but simple:

			try {
				if(view.compBat!=null) {Complications.exitTo(view.compBat);}
			} catch(e) {}

It's a general error message. I saw it yesterday for something else. I think it means that you can't catch the type that is not being thrown. It would work similar in other languages as well.

Do you still have the error? because according to the error message you posted there's this: ";returntrue;" so maybe it was just a typo and adding the space fixed it? Though I still think it's that you're trying to catch an exception that can't be thrown

Thanks for replies. finally fixed it.

if i don't define exeption type have no compilation error.

catch(e) is ok but catch(e as something) is not.

i guess need to use catch(e instanceof something)

There is some error on cote topics sample.
