phone connectivity status is always "waiting" unless when I enter the Garmin Connect app

I have Venu 2 device and Iphone 12.

When I check the phone connectivity in the Venu 2, it always shows that it is waiting for phone even though the devices are paired via Bluetooth.

I still get messages and everything but the status is not changed to "connected" unless I enter to the connect app for iOS users.

Functionality wise it doesn't really matter to me but in every watch face I found online, it shows me that there is no Bluetooth/phone connection if I am not getting into the connect app.

Anyone encountered it or knows how to solve it?

BTW I gave the connect app every access possible, even location and background refresh and still not helping.

TY in advance

  • the status is not changed to "connected" unless I enter to the connect app for iOS users.

It's the same with native watchfaces, unfortunately, and there's no way for CIQ apps to get additional information.

CIQ apps have even less information when it comes to bluetooth, since a native watchface distinguishes between "bluetooth disabled" and "no app connection" (*) whereas a CIQ app sees those two states as the same thing.

(*) Funnily enough, on my 955 this is broken on native watchfaces. The bluetooth icon has three states: hidden (bluetooth disabled), visible (not connected to app), and visible (connected to app). The not connected icon is a phone with a slash through it and the connected icon is a phone. When I turn off bluetooth, the bluetooth icon is supposed to go away, and when I turn on bluetooth, it's supposed to reappear. But in fact this state change isn't reflected on the watchface unless I force a refresh by long-pressing UP, selecting Watch Face, then pressing BACK to return to the watchface. The icon only changes automatically in response to an app connection change.

  • Oh that’s good to know thank you. I thought it was a problem with my device or phone.

  • I am also facing the same issue with Venu sq 2
