It appears that the "broadcast during activity" only works for native apps.
I just turned on the setting for "Broadcast during Activity" and started a IQ app, and no broadcast. But with leaving the setting the same, starting the native run app, it broadcasts.
Not sure if it should work with CIQ apps and just isn't there yet. It might be that on the va-hr, the oHRM just started working correctly with CIQ apps with the latest beta FW, and it will be coming later.
I wouldn't count on being able to broadcast while running CIQ apps for a few reasons:
1) CIQ apps can be quite large (122k on the va-hr, vs 64k on the older watches), and there are other things that don't happen with CIQ apps (like notifications)
2) CIQ apps don't always record anything or even use the HRM, and the logic would have to be changed to only broadcast for apps that specifically try to use the oHRM. Native apps all record and use the oHRM on the other hand.
