String functions "cannot find symbol"

I'm getting the following errors on the indicated code (<<<).

What am I doing wrong?

"Cannot find symbol ':find' on type '$.Toybox.Lang.String'."

"Cannot find symbol ':substring' on type '$.Toybox.Lang.String'."

static function splitString(str as String, delim as String) as Array<String or Null>
	{
		var posSep = str.find(delim);
		if(posSep != null)
		{
			var strLeft = str.substring(0, posSep);
			return [strLeft, str.substring(posSep+1, str.length())];
		}

How does your import section look like and which SDK version do you use? There was a known SDK 4.1.7 bug with static functions that caused exactly the same error:

IMHO you should remove:

using Toy box.Lang

What happens if you try with type checking off?

It doesn't complain and the program works just fine.

(I wish people who create yet-another-language would add type checking at the start.)

What level of type checking are you using? 1,2, or 3? Does it work with 1 but not 3?

1 is "gradual", right?

I get the same errors with strict (but lots more messages).
