footpod/'bike speedsensor' speed and distance from custom datafield

Is it possible to access the speed computed by a footpod or bike speed sensor ?

is the speed, mention in the "sensor info" object, the actual sensor speed (footpod/bike speed sensor) or is it also overwritten by the the gps speed(or a smoothed version of the gps speed) ?
why is the distance(incremental distance actually) not part of the sensor info (for footpod/bike speed sensor) ?

If you want to use it in data field, there's another Info you have to use: http://developer.garmin.com/downloads/connect-iq/monkey-c/doc/Toybox/Activity/Info.html. As for the speed, you'll get smoothed value, same as is displayed by standard data field.

the info you are refering to are for the average activity data. what I was looking for is the instantaneous speed.

I haven't checked, but averageSpeed should be average, and currentSpeed should be instantaneous (or with little filtering). Unfortunately, from a ConnectIQ data field perspective, this is what you have to work with. The speed values may come from various sources and the data field has no control over that.

If you were writing an application, you could probably talk directly to the speed/cadence sensor directly to get the raw data that you want.
