Switch to the Glances screen from a watchface?

Hi, I have a user that would like to switch to the Glances screen (for lack of a better term) by simply touch&hold the watchface screen. Not having a watch with glance capabilities, I don't know if it's an irritant to switch to the Glances screen, but if it is, with the new WatchFaceDelegate onPress function release in 4.2.0, anyone know if it's possible to that function to switch to the Glances screen? Does the Glances screen have a manifest-id that I can call?

Thanks.

  • Thanks, I just think this conference material could be valuable.

  • There were 3 in-person summits (2017,18,19) where there were up to 3 breakouts at the same time, and then 3 GDVCs, with one breakout at a time.  Some breakouts weren't recorded at all, and some became a bit dated.  If I recall, the one on complications wasn't very heavy on actual details.. Generally, they were to introduce a new feature.  The only one I can think of that's still around is the one introducing BLE in CIQ apps.

  • There was a breatout at the last summit about this too.

    "Complications aren't Complicated"

Thanks, but how to get the complication ID of the Glance screen? I mean this screen here as shown in the documentation.
Have you looked at the API doc for complications and watched the video from the summit?
I wonder why garmin keeps deleting these resources. I have seen many of them here with 404 error.
What are you looking for?  The breakout sessions often are removed after a year or so.  In one of the links you see "gdvc".  That's from a "Garmin Developer Virtual Conference".

Idk it's really ironic to me that, in 2024, you are justifying Garmin's practice of deleting "dated" breakout videos when last year (2023), someone asked a question and you suggested that they should've watched a breakout video...from 2022. Now you are basically saying the video was useless the whole time.

Is it not possible someone would have the same question in 2024? After all, someone is posting in this thread in 2024. We all know that ppl regularly resurrect 5-10 year old threads in these forums (even when it makes more sense to start a new thread.)

IOW, in 2023 you thought the video was important enough to watch, but in 2024, apparently it isn't.

If anything, it would be interesting to have the old videos around as a historical archive.

  • It depends on the topic and the timing.  The one for BLE is still around and very helpful, for example.

  • So if someone posted a thread with the exact same questions as OP today, the GDVC complications video would no longer be relevant? But it was relevant in 2023, despite being not being "heavy on actual details"?

  • It's no longer available. I'd check before I referenced it.

Sounds like it was never useful in the first place then.

Or alternatively, if Garmin had decided to keep the video around, then it would be magically useful and relevant again.
