No smart notifications while running a connect iq app on vahr

On my vivoactive hr (Firmware 2.60) I get smart notifications when I use garmin apps, but there will be no notifications when I run (my) connect iq apps. Is it a bug or a feature - and what could I do to get notifications while running connect iq apps?

  • The new beta software 2.65 for the vivoactive HR didn't solved the problem: If I run a costum app I get no smart notifications, with original apps everything works as it should. With the "old" vivoactive smart notifications works fine while running my apps.
    What should I do, should I code smart notifications in the apps and is their a way to do it?
  • I think this is "just the way it is" on the va-hr, and is by design. You could display the notification count in your app, but even with that, from a ciq watch-app on the va-hr, there's no way to get to the widget loop to read the notifications.

    I suspect it's all about the memory that would be needed to show the notification while running an app.
  • Thank you for pointing out the coding possibilities which are very restricted.
    I know that we generaly couldn't reach the widget loop because of the concept of memory usage.
    But on the "normal" vivoactive a notification alert pops up (calls, messages ...) and you can read the content by tapping on the alert. This works also while running a custom app. On the vivoactive hr this is the case while running a Garmin app but not if you are running a custom app.
    Because it's working on the "old" vivoactive I think memory usage couldn't be the reason.

    The va-hr allows twice them memory for watch-apps than the va did.... Possibly less memory for other things with this model.

    It would be nice to see them in a CIQ watch-app, but I doubt it will happen soon.
