Can we now add STEPS to FIT files .. ie total for activity and added to splits.

Ok .. with the new SDK 2.1 can we now do something that I have been waiting for ?

That is adding of total steps to my activity (I see that Garmin Connect does this already .. thanks jim_m_58) as well as steps to my splits.

Being a newbie .. I will admit I do not understand a lot of it.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

I see we have Fit Contributor now .. I think I will smile. :)
  • My understanding is yes, on a device that supports Biker not Aikido devices. For example, your Vivoactive HR is a Biker device, but the original Vivoactive.

This blog post specifically calls out that some of the major features are being back-ported to Aikido.

You may be looking at this chart and thinking “hey wait - does that mean my product won’t get new features?” Fear not! We are releasing an update to Aikido (1.3) that adds the best new features, including FIT recording and the new web APIs. You can use the same beta SDK to build your apps for Aikido product and Biker products.

This indicates that the FIT recording will be available for the devices which choose to support CIQ 1.3, the table lists the potential devices. It did mention that as CIQ 2.1 develops those new features may not make it into CIQ 1.3. The blog post has some great information in it and looks like some cool new features.

EDIT: I'll leave this here but @Ken.ConnectIQ just said the same thing!
