Are Connect IQ data fields going to be available in map view?

Looks like Connect IQ apps are not available on Edge 520/1000 map view.

Are there plans to allow them or are the disabled because of possible performance issues?
  • I don't believe there are plans to allow Connect IQ apps to display on the Edge map page, at least in the short term. This restriction isn't due to performance issues, but because of technical issues related to overlaying apps on the map for which we do not have a good solution. I'm sure it's solvable, but it was decided to focus on getting the core features working rather than shoehorn in a less than ideal implementation to allow apps on the map page. :)

I don't really get it. How are user made data fields different from device's own data fields then? They require same size and are picked in similar manner in all other pages.
+ Connect iq data fields work just fine on elevation page.

The way the Edge overlays fields on the map page is not the same as the way it renders them on all the other pages. It will require some work to render the ConnectIQ graphics onto the map, and doing that work was unfortunately not as important as getting other ConnectIQ features working with the device.

Ok. I'd need more understanding of differences between a data field and a connect iq data field to ask more details... :)
