When you look at the map from smart vs 1s you may see that smart isn't as smooth, but the important thing is the data (like distance), IMHO. With "smart" there are fewer data points to draw the map, but the data should be very close to the same. Anyway, having 1s recording on the va-hr is really not a CIQ issue. Contact Garmin and suggest it.
But from within CIQ, you can see things like lat/lon every sec, even with smart recording, so an app has the data to work with..

I totally know it is not a CIQ issue, but when you have had it before on your Forerunner and then you don't it is like getting kicked in the *****. For me .. it is that ugly and just plain terrible map you get in Garmin Connect without it.
