If I try to add more than 255 drawables to my data field, I get the following error:
ERROR: fenix7: ERROR: assembler: Compiler limit exceeded while assembling globals/Rez/Drawables; 255 fields allowed, 938 found
Is there any way to work around this?

No work around. The id is an 8 bit value, so just 0-255
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping there was a way to for example put drawables in a different class than "Drawables", if this is indeed a limitation in the compiler rather than the actual resource handling.

maybe with the Forerunner 265 that soon will come out they'll change it to 16 bit number...

I ran into this problem when using pngs as map parts, I had a 9000x9000 map divided into 250x250 squares and had to make the png’s bigger so there were fewer of them, I reduced their bit depth in paint.net to reduce their storage size.
I would recommend combining every 4 pngs into 1 (so 938 pngs down to roughly 235 and then that gives you 20 spaces under the 255 limit. Then according to which image you want to show on the screen you adjust the png’s x and y so that the necessary part comes into view.
It is already come but with an AMOLED screen Lol: https://www.chinesesmartwatches.com/garmin-forerunner-265-new-leaks-for-pictures-features-exclusive/
