Hi,
Couldn't find an answer to this. I am looking at creating another app but this time want to ask for payment. is there a "Garmin" way of doing this or does everyone roll their own which would seem very inefficient.
Many thanks,
David

For Kiezelpay we see that about 4% of users actually buy it after installing.
Obviously the amount of installs is less because of the paid label to start with (which on the other hand also means less support you have to give to users of course)
I don't keep track, but combined. I have about 2m downloads. The ones I get the most donations from have 180k and 92k downloads.
hi, I do not agree, if you make it paid, you own the users a service, a support, even for the "IdontReadAnything" or "StrangeWayOfThinking" mails. So you have less download but much more support to provide.
Of course you need to give support, that's not what I meant.
But when my apps where free, I also gave support for those.
What I meant is that my paid apps have less users, and since I gave all of them support, free and paid users, I have to spend less time on support for the paid apps because less people use them.
Also the extra support that happens because of them being paid (and the problems/confusion sometimes caused by that) is largely handled by Kiezelpay. Most devs just forward any payment related question that do end up with them to us.
Choosing for donations or using a payment system (like KPay) depends on what you want to achieve. If you want to get more out of your hobby, then I would choose for a payment system. I can confirm that 1 out of 1000 does donate. If you use a payment system it's much more, averaging on 4%, but that depends on how you implement it. You can get this way higher if you want.
