yes same java even uninstalled / re-installed that too

ok, I fixed this by copying the "devices" folder out of my old laptop (appdata/roaming/garmin/connectiq)

Seems the current downloads are corrupt in some whay. I had removed and re-installed these a few times this evening (luckily not on my old machine.  

just confired, copy the device files across from my old machine, it all works, 

use SDK manager to remove the device and then downlaod again and I get this trouble!!! 

be good if someone dare confirm and its not just me

Which device are you using?  My devices are current as of today and I see no issue.

I was using 6xpr0 and 5x but saw the issue with Any and all i tested (it was a few)

I "like" these general questions. These create threads that then come up years later and never end. All that's missing from it is the version of the software they're complaining about...

I should change the title as it turns out the VScode update had nothing to do with it. 

I hadnt opened any projects for a while so everything updated at once.

Luckily I had another machine to troubel shoot with.

I found using SDK 4.09 (and any up to  4.1.3) and the latest versions of the "devices" (as at jan 2023) caused this issue with my projects.

When I restored back some older "devices" from/to user/appdata/roaming/garmin/connectiq it works again without crashing.
