Unsuccessful policy of CIQ devlopers.

I am amazed of Garmin's policy towards the Monkey C programming language. Training resources for this language are very rare. There are only two lessons on YouTube.
Garmin should intensify lessons on YouTube, especially for beginners.
Profisional Apps makers are very few and beginners cant learn. I think this language is going to be died by this policy.

  • It wasn't about calling attention to whether I was a woman or a man. And I'm not talking about favoritism, just because I'm the opposite sex. That has nothing to do with it.

It is important that when a person asks for help, they are at least answered, it is exactly like in school, the student asks the teacher if something is not clear to him and gets an explanation. I don't want to insult or verbally attack anyone. It's just an opinion about an opinion.

Regarding my contribution, I wrote you an email personally, I also put my test project here and I didn't get any reply.

I'm just writing my experience, I don't want to offend anyone and I'm sorry if it affects someone like that. Communication is more than important (my opinion).

  • everyone who answered (or did not) is 99.999% another person, just like you. Not affiliated with Garmin. Most of us have enough of trying to help to people to answer their questions in a way that it is possible to understand anything from it. In many cases we send followup questions and we don't hear back from the person who we're supposed to help.... It's also a bit of netiquette and plain common sense to include as much information as possible with your question - regarding the problem, not your gender ;)

  • With this my last post, I would probably end this discussion for myself.

It's just verbal "ping-pong" and I don't expect anyone here to back me up in my comments.

I only wrote my experience and opinion on a general topic like helping people - questions via the Garmin forum.

They emphasize again that I did not want to offend anyone with my attitude, but on the other hand, like other forums, the Garmin forum has its own rules and if someone unknowingly violates them, you have the right to report it to the Admins. Although I don't think I did anything serious when I politely asked someone for help. Perhaps just the fact that I stated my gender (but that depends on the point of view).

I don't want to moralize here, but they work in an area where I help several people every day and I have never been arrogant to my clients or refused to help them in my career.

Honestly, when you read my request where I asked for help, you could have at least written to me that the parameters of my request were not enough for you.

I personally follow this in my life:

Those who want to help look for ways, those who don't want to look for reasons...

So I wouldn't speak for myself any further.

They wish everyone the best of luck.

    Honestly, this is incorrect.

People (who are not Garmin employees) are not required to answer questions. They are quite free to ignore posts. It's nothing like "schools", where the teachers are paid to be there.

I was going to, but you deleted your post too quickly. But that's part of the problem - if there was enough information in the OP, maybe somebody could've answered right away without asking for more information. When I personally see a post which is too vague, it gives me less incentive to reply right away bc I know it will be a longer back-and-forth to help out.

Nothing personal at all, but there are ways to ask questions which increase your chances of getting quick answers.

And I really think playing the gender card did not help at all. What if a woman wanted to help you, but she was put off by the assumption that we're all men? Women in tech often complain that they hate it when people assume they're men. And again, the implication that men will be more likely to help you if you announce that you're a woman (which is already obvious based on your username and profile pic) is almost insulting.

I mean, even Garmin employees are not required to answer questions. This kind of user-to-user forum is a great way for companies like Garmin to extract free labor from their users lol. (Not that it isn't appreciated when Garmin employees chime in and help out, it's just a general statement on user-to-user communities for corporate products.)

  • Sure. One could make an argument that, to keep the IQ world healthy, Garmin has some requirement to provide more assistance.

  • Yeah. I mean it goes back to the question of whether Garmin (as a whole, not any individuals) actually cares that much about Connect IQ.
