Cannot get sensor information from device (temperature)

Hi all,

Been working away on my first application and learnt a great deal, so firstly would like to thank everyone in this community for being a wealth of knowledge. I've learnt alot from you in the last week and made my first quick app and got it up into ConnectIQ without too much pain! Being a fairly straightforward application - everything is gone pretty well, but I have hit a bit of a roadblock trying to get temperature sensor data from the device itself. The app works absolutely perfectly in the simulator, but when using on the device itself (my Fenix 6X Pro), the temperature received appears to be null. I suspect there is something easy I have missed but need a point in the right direction here.

Appreciate any pointers that anyone could give to me!

To see the temperature in Sensor.getInfo().temperature with a f6x, you need a Tempe Sensor, which is an external: sensor

You can see the internal sensor with SensorHistory.getTemperatureHistory() and…

On many watches, Sensor.getInfo().temperature requires a Tempe sensor, and on those to get the watch temperature, you need to use the newest sample from SensorHistory.getTemperatureHistory. But that's only on watches with a baro altimeter, so not available on devices like the fr245..

You can use Weather.getCurrentConditions().temperature on devices that support that, but based on where you are, it may be kind of inaccurate,

Thanks Jim. Sorry for the late reply.

I will have a look into that sample and go from there. I think that will probably get me sorted out. Weather is also a good option too - so might add that in for a future revision!

Jim,

I've successfully added in current weather without any hassle but still no action on the local temperature front.

I am running a Fenix 6X and I am pretty sure it has a temp sensor? I'm running SDK 4.1.3.

Ohhhh, ok no worries. I was way down the wrong track there.

I'll rework it with the temp history and go from there.
