Type Checking Query on Array Indexes

So just enabling the more strict Type checking and I am getting these warnings when the array is being accessed in the loop below:

"Cannot determine if container assignment is using container type."

var userFieldID = [0,0,0,0,0,0];

for (var i = 0; i <= 5; i++){

    userFieldID[i] = ....
    
}

Tried a few things to keep the compiler happy but I don't seem to be able to find an answer. Anyone been there done that, that can help?

is userFieldID a field in the class or a variable in the function? If it's in the class then IMHO you should have (though then maybe there would be a different error?):

var userFieldID as Array<Number> = [0,0,0,0,0,0] as Array<Number>;

Tried all afternoon to clear the warnings below and I think I have come to the conclusion that the compiler is not working correctly on these warnings:

"Cannot determine if container access is using container type."

"Cannot determine if container assignment is using container type."

either change "var" to "const", because then the type of the assigned right value will define the type of the constant (which looks like the right thing to do in this case) or if it has to be a variable, then:

var userFieldID as Array<FieldType> = [...] as Array<FieldType>;

So my app is somewhat more complex than the example I gave. I have been going through the code and updating but I have come across another impasse. If I setup an Array it works fine as far as type safety goes if declared within the class it is used. But if it the Array is a public member variable of a class which is instantiated by another class the compiler does not seem to be able to work out the type of the container. Does anyone know if this is a limitation of the compiler currently?
