install_app (Transfer Error)

I'm using the latest SDK and pushed an update. All good on my Fenix HR and Vivoactive HR but I'm getting install_app (Transfer Error) on my Vivoactive.
Runs fine on simulator for Vivoactive and I can package for device and put it on by hand and it's all OK but not through Garmin Express.
I've had reports from users that Fenix 3 and Vivoactive are problematic after the latest update.

Anyone else having problems? Which SDK should I roll back to?

  • I just tested this on my vivoactive, and I'm not seeing the same issue. There are some cases where the latest firmware update hasn't fully applied to the device, and you can receive a message stating that your device needs a firmware update when attempting to install apps. That sounds different from the transfer error you've mentioned, though.

    I'm curious to see whether anyone else has encountered anything similar, because up to this point I haven't seen anything else like this raised in the forums.
  • Brandon - I saw this yesterday afternoon when I installed a watchface on a va-hr, but tried again a bit later and it was fine. I chalked it up to some kind of network error...
  • Okay--it's possible that there was a temporary server issue or something then. If it pops up anymore, post back here and I'll poke the store team to see whether it's something they're aware of.

    Nope still the same error. Works on everything but the vivoactive and the .prg works if I copy it over.

  • Sounds like a device-specific problem, which is a little outside my wheelhouse. You could try resetting the device back to defaults (Settings -> System -> Restore Defaults). If that doesn't correct the issue, I'd be concerned that there might be something like a file system problem. I suppose it could be some kind of strange server issue on our end, too, but that seems unlikely.

    Have you tried using Garmin Connect Mobile instead of Garmin Express? Have you tried using a different computer? I'm just thinking of various things product support might have you try before settling on the device having a problem and requiring service/replacement.

    Same error message for Heart Rate Zones Chart update 1.3.2-e83

    I am getting the same error message for the October 2016 Heart Rate Zones Chart update 1.3.2-e83. Any further insight into how to address the problem?

  • Hi, I'm getting the same error while trying to install ANYTHING from Garmin Express to my brand new just-out-of-the-box Venu SQ 2 Music. Any solutions for this?
