Here are a few Complication samples

Hey folks, the Complication examples in the Core Topics documentation doesn't really help you build an end-to-end demo.

So, with the help of others here, I've prepped two Complication samples for System 6 devices that;

Subscribe to Complication callbacks, and display their data in a watchface, and
Pressing them within a bounding box (onPress) to launch the Complication widget.

This code deals with square press bounds;

While this one deals with round press bounds;

Pick whichever works for your design or approach.

The "onPress" doesn't do anything yet, but hopefully we'll see this change with a new SDK or firmware update in the future.

That's right.

You won't need to use Complications to subscribe to the data you already get through the existing APIs. Using existing APIs will also help with backwards compatibility.

In another thread you talked about hacking the system 6 devices and using 4.1.7. Are you using those hacked devices or as the come from Garmin?

hacking was needed to compile with 4.1.7 now I need 4.2.2

A Waring or an error? You'll see a warning if the device files don't indicate 4.2.x meaning you also want to use vs code and not eclipse.

Yes, the initial version of CIQ support in VS Code came out 2 years ago. I've use it since then, but when frustrated, used Eclipse - there was period where VS Code didn't work if there was the Noric BLE Dongle for example (I'm set up to use the same folders for projects between the two. With the 4.2.0 beta SDKs, I had VS Code to make changes and test, and eclipse (set to a 4.1.x SDK) to build iq files. With 4.2.1 I now use VS Code for everything.

That's what you see with the sim and VS Code too. On a real device, it launches the associated glance.

On a real device you want to use register and subscribe if you want to update what is shown on your watch face and not just handle the "onPress"

Can I call exitTo(... COMPLICATION_TYPE_SOLAR_INPUT) or any COMPLICATION_TYPE_??? without checking if system has feature?

Hi, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Downloaded this example, running it against a Venu2 with ConnectIQ 4.2.3. I get a crash at start here:

Encountered app crash.

Noticed the manifest.xml file is missing the permission section (uh?), so I added

<iq:permissions/>
<iq:uses-permission id="ComplicationSubscriber"/>
</iq:permissions>

Now it won't even compile and give me this error:

ERROR: com.garmin.connectiq.common.manifest.ManifestException: Problem validating the manifest file: cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element '{"'">www.garmin.com/.../connectiq":uses-permission}'. One of '{"">www.garmin.com/.../connectiq":products, "">www.garmin.com/.../connectiq":permissions, "">www.garmin.com/.../connectiq":languages, "">www.garmin.com/.../connectiq":trialMode, "'">www.garmin.com/.../connectiq":barrels}' is expected.

What am I doing wrong?
