Number of downloads decreased in CIQ store

I just saw that the number of downloads decreased from 34k to 30k since yesterday on one of my apps. Did anyone see something like that?

  • Hi Gavriel, on my app  stat decreased too today and icon on the main page lost

  • how are you looking at the counts?  If it's the web based store vs the CIQ Mobile app, there could be some rounding involved

Aslo, what you see as the main download count is unique user downloads, while what you see in stats, includes repeat users and update.  You'll often see a spike right after you update an app in the store

  • It's the way to mix something in store. Manual ranking :-). I think they decrease downloads by about 10% (e.g. in my case is 8k) for many top application to show others. Next day opposite movement.

look into chart, values are rather good only sum of downloads was updated, simple SQL

    UPDATE ranking SET downloaded=downloaded*0.9 WHERE ranking < 120;// :-)

  • Today I only looked at the web on the number next to the down-arrow icon. But until now I always saw the same number there on the web and in the mobile app. And more importantly I am comparing the number that was displayed there on the web yesterday to the number that is there right now also on the web (and BTW for almost a week the numbers were above 31k, and now it's down to 30k) So no matter how I look there is an absolute decrease.

Now regarding the update: yes, it's true. I did have an update a week ago and yes I saw on the daily downloads graph that the downloads increased. And I even asked myself how can that be? I hardly changed the description, so I don't think now more users install the DF. And I almost posted a question on the forum to ask about these numbers, 'cause it's not clear if they measure the rather meaningless number of downloads - including the version updates (which would mean that if I just bump the version with "minor bugfixes" every 10 days would artificially and confusingly increase the number) or the number of installs. My guess is that there might have been a bug in the way they counted and they realized it and fixed it today, and somehow they decided that they retroactively "fix" the numbers and decided to do so since the beginning of October.

  • Well, today the number is back to 35k, so apparently it looks that there was a bug yesterday...

  • It happens once in a while. I saw the same thing at least 3 times this year. So far the counts always come back in a day or two.
