The settings int the simulator display differently than devices

The settings displayed on the simulator (current Mac OS) do not match/function identically to what happens on phones.  What is worse, what happens on an iPhone is different than what happens on an Android.

Am I missing a set-up option somewhere?

Background: I have a support request hat I cannot duplicate on my mac and he syncs to on an OS device I don't have.  I have no idea how I'm supposed to troubleshoot this.

Thanks

  • Any details? What is wrong?

  • Is it that one of the values shows up wrong?  What type of setting?  Is the watch itself setting the value for this or is it only changed by app settings?

  • Sure. I use a group under settings. In the simulator, when the option that activates the group is selected, the new options show up below the other options. On my Android, a new window pops up which requires me to select it again. Then, after I select it in the Android, I have to hit the back arrow up top, then select the Save button. On this person's iPhone, they do not get a save button after they change the group setting.

    Clear as mud?

I will post some pics later.

  • Don't use groups. It never worked and there are multiple bug reports about it. I don't think any app in the store uses it.

  • Great (said in a disappointed tone).

    Thanks for the info.

  • The unofficial CIQ dev and Garmin end user motto: "If it doesn't work, don't use it".

Honestly I think it's sad this is the status quo for both groups. Everyone just accepts that certain things don't work properly and maybe never will.

It's funny that the same principle applies to the forum platform (which Garmin chose but didn't develop):

    - don't bother trying to quote emojis, your post will be rejected

    - don't bother trying to post an image in the OP of a bug report, it won't work

    - try not to reply to a comment that someone is editing, because your work will be interrupted over and over again, and you may even lose the text of your reply

    - sometimes copying and pasting an image into a post will work, other times you have to use a 3rd party image host

    etc
