Instinct app icon colors

Should the app icon for Instinct devices be drawn using black pixels or white pixels? I don't have an Instinct device to see the UI, so I'm mainly going off Garmin's style guide: https://developer.garmin.com/connect-iq/user-experience-guidelines/instinct-2022/

for native stuff, it's generally a while background for glances, and a black background for activities. The icons show in the round subscreen in the upper right.

I use colors in my icons so you can also get shades or gray.

My regular app icon uses a transparent background with red and blue colors for the logo. But since Instinct only supports 2 colors, would my regular app icon display fine on an Instinct? Would it do something like convert the red and blue colors in my logo to white pixels and then try to display it on a white background? Should I design with a specific background color in the .png instead of using transparency?
