I have updated today to 4.3 on my Fr235 and since then it is "waiting for the app". I tried to de-couple my iphone 6 and the FR235 which worked well, but pairing it again seems impossible. I need help, please!

    Hi Guys,

just confirming, the watch bluetooth is dead.
It's not the bluetooth connection in CIQ apps that is not working.
The bluetooth in general is messed up.

My watch is not connecting anymore to my mobile (running android GCM 3.6.0.1 - the latest available)

BUT it was not the firmware 4.3 that crashed it. I am testing my app in 4.3 for some days and it was fine.

My watch bluetooth connection stooped working after this update that was released today!

Forerunner 235 Sensor Hub software version 2.70

I guess that this one shows up in the device system/about with the name
    WHR 2.70 (10.02.21)

    other details of my watch
    fw 4.30
    GPS 3.00
    Display 2.10
    Bluetooth/ANT 2.20
    WHR 2.70 (10.02.21)
    CIQ 1.2.6

    Cheers,

Have you tried just a power on/power off of your watch? And if that doesn't work, restart your phone?

Jim, I had only restarted my watch.

And I just restarted my phone and it ..... connected.

    I'm felling like a newbie :-D lol

    Cheers
  • Every time my watch won't connect, I've been able to fix by turning off watch's bluetooth, turn off phone's bluetooth, turn on phone's bluetooth, turn on watch's bluetooth - in that order.

It's possible that one could hunt down the Garmin Connect App service on the phone and kill that and restart garmin connect app to fix it, but that's more of a pain as restarting bluetooth is since bluetooth is in the settings pulldown menu.

I've also found that I can avoid having the bluetooth connection fail in the first place by turning off bluetooth on the watch when I know I'm going to be away from the phone for an extended period of time. But that IS a pain in the ass, because it's buried so deep in the watch menus.
I beg of you garmin to put the BT toggle in an easier place to access? Somewhere that doesn't require digging 3 menus deep and 5 options down to toggle it? If wish it were part of the API; I'd love a widget that allowed me to disable/enable bluetooth directly (and another runner expressed this exact sentiment to me at a race a couple of weekends ago).

So, I tried all possible things. Turning on and off of the bluetooth function on both devices. I installed all the latest updates on both devices. I unpaired them in the apple bluetooth menu with ignore this device. I restarted the FR235 and tried to pair them again - it is not happening! I am very frustrated. I had ro sync via cable so my activities get uploaded.

Garmin, could you please fix that? I will go on vacation tomorrow and this just sucks!

I assume that with "de-couple" you mean that on iOS in Bluetooth settings you clicked on the "i" icon and select "Forget Device"

This is what works for me when I run into issues.

Please ignore...I saw your latest post regarding unpairing just now.

Any other suggestions? I really need some help, are there some Garmin people reading here?
  • I think your best course of action is to post in the fr235 forum or to call support. There are a few Garmin staff that respond to posts relating to ConnectIQ in this forum, but they typically don't handle support issues.
