Have all the text font sizes changed, or have the font sizes in the UXGuide of 1.2.9 gotten a bit muddled up? I suspect the later.
  • The font sizes should not have changed. Is there anything specific you're seeing that's different, or is it across the board?

I consider it quite prolific. I don't think you will have any problems seeing the errors if you look.
  • Sorry, I was just asking for a little clarification, but I see what you're referring to now. :) This change was made back in February, and I'd forgotten it was done.

The actual font sizes haven't changed, but the way we're describing them in the UX Guide has. When the font sizes were originally published, we listed a "numeral" sizing, which is an internal specification which I believe is a relative scale. Fonts of equivalent sizes can appear different on devices in what seemed to be an unpredictable way. We decided to list the fixed pixel sizes for each font in the UX guide instead so developers can more easily predict how fonts should appear for a given screen resolution.

You've lost me. I always thought a number was a numeral, and that they would typically relate to the same quantity if they were alike. My memory must be wrong because I thought they had always been specified in px. I fail to see how (for example) the 3 smallest 920 fonts, which display on my device as 12px, and display in the simulator as 12px, are actually 15px. Going by the UXGuide I expect most people would predict they would display as 15px. Seems to me you could really help all the developers working to value add Garmin products by providing clearer documentation and a true emulator.

Where can i find the change log for the SDK?

I haven't been getting notifications that updates are available and have missed the last few. I'd like to know what's changed.
  • Download the latest version of the SDK, then review the Release Notes. They can be found at the bottom of README.html. Additionally, the SDKs are announced in this forum with a post that includes the changes since the previous release.

    Ahh of course. Thanks Travis.
